State Representatives Charles Sargent and Steve McDaniel toured the historic Franklin Masonic Hall, where Andrew Jackson signed a significant 1830 treaty with Chickasaw leaders. This treaty was an early step in the forced relocation of Native Americans, leading to the Trail of Tears. The Hall, built in 1823 and continuously used by Hiram Lodge No. 7, also served as a hospital during the Civil War. The tour highlighted ongoing restoration efforts supported by a $50,000 state grant.
